Malaysia has the second-highest level of concern about digital technology being used for crime among selected Asia Pacific markets, according to a Kaspersky survey.
The study found that 38% of Malaysian consumers were concerned about digital technology being used for crime. Thailand ranked highest at 39%, followed by Malaysia, Indonesia at 35%, China at 34%, India at 32% and Vietnam at 31%. Across APAC, the figure was 35%, compared with 32% globally.
Kaspersky also found that APAC consumers use digital services more heavily than the global average. Online shopping reached 80% in APAC compared with 71% globally, while digital finance usage was 72% compared with 70%. Digital entertainment and digital communication usage were also higher in the region.
The cybersecurity company said it blocked nearly 30,000 mobile attacks against consumers in APAC during the first three months of 2026. India and Indonesia recorded the highest number of incidents.
Kaspersky said greater use of smartphones for banking, payments, shopping and other digital services increases the importance of mobile security and protection against threats such as phishing, malware and remote access tools.
